Motorist dies after hitting car at red light
A motorist who drove into a Cadillac waiting at a red light at the intersection of Pecos and Russell roads died Friday, Las Vegas police said.
The man was driving erratically in a 2002 Nissan Maxima moments before the 8:11 a.m. crash, police said. He was pronounced dead at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center.
His name has not been released.
The driver of the Cadillac, who was in an eastbound lane of Russell Road waiting for the light to change, suffered minor injuries.
Police unsuccessfully tried to stop the Nissan driver after seeing him commit several traffic violations near Sandhill Road and Rawhide Street.
This is the 39th traffic-related fatality in the Metropolitan Police Department’s jurisdiction this year..
