Mount Charleston Hotel sold

Call it the Gold Spike: Alpine Edition.

Owners of the Gold Spike in downtown Las Vegas and the now-ubiquitous Siegel Suites apartment complexes have expanded their empire to Mount Charleston.

On Wednesday the Siegel Group and Great American Capital, both of Las vegas, announced the purchase of the Mount Charleston Hotel.

The Siegel Group, which now owns 50 pecent of the hotel, will manage the operation which will be called The Resort on Mount Charleston.

The property is located on 5.76 acres and has 64 guest rooms, gaming, a bar, resstaurant, banquet facility and spa.

In a statement announcing the deal, Siegel Group said there are plans to renovate the exterior and guest rooms and add amenities such as in-room movies and high speed Internet access.

No terms of the deal were announced.
