Murphy loses in Binion estate appeal

CARSON CITY (AP) -- Sandra Murphy, once convicted but later acquitted in the drug overdose death of Las Vegas casino executive Ted Binion, has lost a round in the Nevada Supreme Court to collect on part of his estate.

The court said there are still pending matters involving Murphy's claims in Clark County District Court that must be resolved before an appeal can be considered.

Binion died in September 1998. Murphy, his live-in girlfriend, and Rick Tabish were convicted of murder in May 2000, but were acquitted in a second trial in November 2004 and found guilty of burglary and grand larceny involving Binion's $8 million silver and rare coin collection.

Murphy got out of prison in April 2005. Tabish is still behind bars.
