DC-bound plane makes emergency landing in Pennsylvania

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — A plane traveling from Toronto to Washington made an emergency landing in central Pennsylvania after the crew detected smoke on the flight deck and in the cabin.

Porter Airlines spokesman Brad Cicero says the turboprop landed safely Sunday morning at Williamsport Regional Airport.

Another aircraft was sent to pick up the 66 passengers and fly them to Dulles International Airport, about 160 miles south of Williamsport.

The flight had departed from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport around 8 a.m. but was diverted about 45 minutes into the trip.
