A night of serious headbanging

The University Theatre gets as metal as Blackie Lawless' codpiece today, with a gaggle of rising Vegas longhairs.

There's the neck-spraining Shredmill, who actually have a song titled "Beast of Rage," thoroughly solidifying their thrash bona fides. There's classic metal throwbacks 7th Son, melodic death-metal upstarts Solid Substance, and fellow local rippers Cerebus and the Funeral Pyre.

The show starts at 6 p.m. at the University Theatre, 4737 S. Maryland Parkway. Tickets are $10; call 898-5500.
