Rapper LL Cool J at Primm arena

Only milk and mayflies expire faster than most rappers' careers. Hip-hop often treats its elders like unwanted houseguests, as it's an of-the-moment genre constantly turning the page on one MC to discover the next.

But LL Cool J is something of an anomaly. More than decades into his career, he can still play arenas and notch top 10 albums.

His appeal is broad: He's smooth-talking and well-sculpted for the ladies, while he's a braggadocio and ballsy enough to appeal to the fellas.

Don't call it a comeback; he's been here for years.

See LL Cool J at 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Star of the Desert Arena, I-15 at Primm. Tickets are $21.95-$49.45; call 386-7867.
