NEON TUESDAY

Railroad Earth at Aruba Hotel

Their fans call themselves hobos, and Railroad Earth has a sound just as shiftless: The band's bustling Americana is as broad as the distant horizon and never seems to stop long enough to catch its breath.

With cagey roots rock colored by violin, dobro, pennywhistle and more, Railroad Earth crams each tune with an album's worth of instrumentation.

It's never overwhelming, though. Instead, the band's catalog unfolds casually and comfortably, like a lazy Sunday morning.

See Railroad Earth at 8 p.m. at the Aruba Hotel, 1215 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $15; call 383-3100.
