Motorcycle Club rumbles into LV

First, they got lots of grief for sounding like a Jesus and Mary Chain cover band. Then, they got just as much flak for laying off the distortion pedals and getting all pastoral on their rootsy third disc, "Howl."

Truth is, neither criticism is all that valid for the Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, as this trio is still worth paying attention to, awash in clenched-fist psychedelia and hazy garage rock that rumbles like a muffler-less street rod.

See the band at 6 p.m. at Jillian's, 450 Fremont St. Tickets are $18; call 759-0450.
