NEON TUESDAY

Peachcake offers stress-free zone

On his band's MySpace page, Peachcake singer and keyboard player Johnny O'Keefe brands himself a space owl whose responsibilities include translational communications and telepathy.

If that sounds like a bit much to swallow, wait until you hear his band's impossibly buoyant synth-pop chirp, which is suggestive of Depeche Mode after having downed a bucket of Zoloft.

Covered in sweat and smiles, the band makes every day feel like a Saturday night.

See the band at 6 p.m. at the University Theatre, 4737 S. Maryland Parkway. Tickets are $12. Call 898-5500.
