Bloc Party rocks

at The Pearl

Even when he's dolefully observing that "East London is a vampire that sucks all the joy out of me," Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke never gets too dour to cease the dancing.

Coming with jagged yet groove-laden art rock, this bunch consistently works itself into a lather with serrated social commentary and arena-sized hooks, making them the rare group that'll have you shaking both your fists and your derriere.

See the band 8 p.m. at The Pearl at The Palms, 4321 W. Flamingo Road. Tickets are $30; call 942-7777.
