Nevada Democrats lose ground because of inactive voters
Registered Democrats continue to outnumber Republican voters in Nevada, but that electoral edge has been threatened by a growing number of inactive Democratic voters.
Voter registration numbers released Monday show there were nearly 447,000 active Democratic voters in Nevada in December, compared to nearly 396,000 active GOP voters.
Democrats lost more than 56,800 active voters from November to December.
The change comes after Clark County election officials reviewed their voting records and moved thousands of voters from active to inactive status. Both parties lost active voters because of the review.
That happens when voters don't provide updated address information after a move.
Inactive voters are still eligible to vote, but must first confirm their new voter registration information.
It's also possible that those voters moved to another state.
