Nevada National Guard’s mission in Arizona ends

CARSON CITY -- The Nevada National Guard's mission in Arizona has ended just as its deployment in support of Haitian earthquake recovery effort began.

All three of the helicopters dispatched to Arizona on Jan. 25, to transport supplies after a damaging storm, finished their work Sunday.

The choppers made a total of 39 deliveries to the Navajo and Hopis. They distributed 105 cases of meals and 103 cases of water to rural residents.

While the helicopters and most of their crews returned to Nevada on Sunday, two Nevada airmen were deployed to Haiti to provide support. One Army Guard public affairs officer also was sent in support of the Haiti mission.
