New roundtable hearing date announced
The Southern Nevada Building and Construction Trades Council announced today the second worker and job site safety roundtable will be held Wednesday at 5 p.m. at the Clark County Government Center.
The meeting is to discuss safety and potential new regulations to be submitted for the 2009 legislative session.
The news release did not indicate who would be on the panel.
Only Clark County Commissioner Chris Giunchigliani, who chaired the first meeting in June, was quoted in the release announcing the new hearing.
Panelists in June included Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, County Commissioner Rory Reid, Building Trades President Rick Johnson, and Steve Holloway, executive vice president of the Las Vegas chapter of Associated General Contractors.
Representatives from Nevada Occupational Safety and Health Administration were criticized for turning down an invitation to participate in the first session.
The press release didn’t indicate if the state agency charged with overseeing worker safety will attend Wednesday’s meeting, either.
