‘Nina Lies’ signs posted on overpasses
September 30, 2009 - 9:00 pm
Several signs that apparently refer to KTNV-TV, Channel 13 anchor Nina Radetich were posted on valley overpasses Tuesday morning.
The spray-painted signs stenciled with "Nina Lies," "Nina Lies at 11" and the number 13 greeted motorists along U.S. Highway 95 and Summerlin Parkway. The signs went up before 9 a.m.
It wasn't immediately known who placed the signs on the overpasses.
Radetich has been embroiled in controversy since a Las Vegas Sun report exposed recordings of the anchor offering her boyfriend's media-spin help to Tire Works, an auto repair chain under investigation by Channel 13 for alleged fraudulent practices.
Radetich told the owner of the business that her boyfriend, Jack Finn, enjoyed media relations. Finn was employed with NV Energy until he resigned from his post as special projects manager last week, a company official confirmed Tuesday.
Finn said simply that he resigned from NV Energy to pursue other opportunities. Finn joined NV Energy as a special projects manager in April 2007. Before joining NV Energy, Finn spent 10 years alternating between press jobs with U.S. Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., and former Nevada Gov. Kenny Guinn. He also worked as a reporter at KVBC-TV, Channel 3 for nearly four years.
Radetich was not fired from the station for her involvement.
Bob McKenzie, spokesman for the Nevada Department of Transportation, said signs on overpasses aren't permitted and that maintenance crews were being sent to remove them.
