North Las Vegas approves five year Capital Improvement Plan, postpones some projects

The North Las Vegas City Council on Wednesday approved a proposed Capital Improvement Plan for fiscal years 2010 through 2014.

The plan calls for the following projects to be delayed indefinitely: the Park Highlands development, Fire Station 58 for two years, the North Central Police Station for four years, the 2029 Zone Water Transmission Main for one year, an ammoniac feed system for three years and the Hansen Utility Billing System for two years.

Projects outlined in earlier Capital Improvement Plans and associated with the downtown redevelopment effort — new city hall campus, parks and recreation efforts funded by the Bureau of Land Management, information technology, public safety and public works — are slated to move forward as scheduled over the next five years.

The plan serves as a sort of five-year forecast, with the first year's budget becoming the annual operating budget.

The Capital Improvement Plan is reviewed annually.
