Obama ad stresses service as state legislator

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama on Monday began airing his second television ad in Nevada since beginning his general-election campaign.

The ad, entitled "Dignity," stresses Obama's legislative accomplishments as an Illinois state senator, portraying him as a champion of workers and children.

"He passed a law to move people from welfare to work -- slashed the rolls by 80 percent," a voice-over states. "Passed tax cuts for workers, health care for kids. As president, he'll end tax breaks for companies that export jobs, reward those that create jobs in America."

Photos and video show Obama on the phone, at a desk, meeting with workers and speaking to crowds. In the last frame, Obama hugs a woman in an apron and hairnet in a kitchen setting. Text on the screen references "The Obama record."

The 30-second spot is airing in Nevada and 17 other states targeted as battlegrounds by the campaign. It follows a debut spot in which Obama talked about values inherited from his grandparents from Kansas.

Obama's Republican opponent, John McCain, has so far aired three TV ads in Nevada and other battleground states.
