Obama plans campaign stops in Las Vegas, Reno next week
August 15, 2012 - 8:37 am
President Barack Obama will campaign in Nevada for two days next week, a campaign official said Wednesday.
He'll be in Reno on Tuesday and in Las Vegas on Wednesday, according to the Democratic campaign. No other details were available.
The president has visited Nevada 12 times since he took office in 2009 for both official and campaign stops. He has promoted his policies on everything from student loans and clean energy, to the housing crisis and jobs, as the state suffers the highest unemployment rate in the nation, now 11.6 percent.
Obama's visit will come a week after GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan made his campaign debut in Las Vegas on Tuesday.
Mitt Romney announced the conservative congressman from Wisconsin as his running mate on Saturday, looking to generate excitement in the GOP ticket ahead of the late August national convention.
Romney, too, has campaigned in Nevada often, revealing his economic plan in Las Vegas and returning a couple of weeks ago as the battle for the Silver State heats up with the Nov. 6 election less than three months away.
