Officer involved in fatal shooting identified

The Las Vegas police officer who shot and killed a sexual assault suspect Wednesday has been identified as 30-year-old Jeremy Hendricks.

Hendricks, who has been on the force almost 10 years, and another officer were interviewing the suspect at the El Jen Convalescent Center near Alexander and Rancho drives when the suspect fled.

According to police the officers chased the man and tried to stop him using a Taser. Hendricks and the suspect became involved in a "physical altercation," and Hendricks shot the man, according to police.

An eye witness has said she saw no altercation and that the suspect was running away from the officers when he was shot.
