One killed, one critically hurt in accident near Laughlin

One person was killed Friday afternoon and another was critically injured in an accident on state Route 163 near Laughlin, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Trooper Jeremie Elliott said the wreck happened a little after 4 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of the highway, which leads from U.S. Highway 95 to Laughlin.

The identities of the dead and injured were unknown.

Elliott said at least one vehicle rolled over. One person was pronounced dead at the scene, while another was flown by helicopter to University Medical Center.

The highway was briefly shut down.
