One man killed, one injured when desert vehicle rolls

A Golden Valley man was killed and another injured when the sandrail they were riding in rolled in their northwest Arizona community Friday.

The Mohave County Sheriff's office said the driver, Frank Ellis Stringer, 53, was dead at the scene of the 6:05 p.m. accident.

Sheriff's office spokeswoman Trish Carter said the passenger, Ronnie Ray Birdsell, 54, was taken to Kingman Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. Carter said neither man was wearing a seat belt when the rig hit a washed out portion of road and rolled.

Carter said speed and alcohol appeared to have been factors in the accident.
