Palin, President Clinton due for campaign stops

President Clinton and Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin are headed to Southern Nevada to campaign for their respective parties as the election draws near.

The Democratic vice presidential nominee, Joe Biden, also is making a local stop, appearing this afternoon at Henderson's Morrell Park. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. for the rally, which is free and open to the public.

Following Biden to Nevada to stump for the Democratic ticket headed by Barack Obama, Clinton will be in Las Vegas for a rally Sunday afternoon.

Monday morning, the former president will be in Elko and Reno, according to the campaign. No further details were available on Clinton's visits when they were announced Thursday.

Palin, for her part, will be in Reno and Henderson on Tuesday to campaign for the Republican ticket headed by John McCain.

The Alaska governor is scheduled to have one rally at the Reno-Sparks Convention Center at 7 a.m., followed by another at the Henderson Pavilion at 11 a.m., according to the campaign Web site.

It will be Palin's second campaign visit to Nevada. Last month, Palin spoke in Carson City.

Nevada is one of a handful of states Obama and Republican John McCain are battling to win.

Early voting begins Saturday.
