Pallet fire blamed on electrical malfunction

An accidental electrical malfunction is thought to have sparked the fire that engulfed a pallet storage yard in Henderson last week, officials said Tuesday.

The official cause of the fire is undetermined because the fire destroyed any physical evidence. But surveillance video and witness statements indicated that the use of electrical equipment in the area caused the fire, the Henderson Fire Department said.

The fire caused an estimated
$3 million in damage to a storage yard at 400 Max Court, near Boulder Highway and Sunset Road, about 7:30 p.m. on June 8. Flames engulfed one warehouse building, causing the roof to collapse.

Several other buildings received smoke and fire damage, firefighters said.
