Pedestrian killed in Bullhead City

A pedestrian trying to cross Highway 95 in Bullhead City, Ariz., was struck by a car and killed Monday evening.

Bullhead City police Lt. Steve Smith said Burt Wilson, 51, died at the scene of the 10:48 p.m. accident some 3 1/2 miles south of the Laughlin Bridge.

Smith said Wilson was returning to his residence at the Rainbow Haven Trailer Park after crossing the highway to go to a convenience store.

The police lieutenant said Wilson had purchased a six pack of beer but that there was no initial indication of impairment.

"Absolutely, bad judgment was involved," Smith said of the failed crossing attempt.

Smith said Wilson tried to cross the highway just 160 feet from a lighted signal crossing.
