Pedestrian killed while crossing Charleston Boulevard

A pedestrian who was not in a marked crosswalk was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle near Charleston and Nellis boulevards Saturday night, Las Vegas police said.

The identity of the pedestrian was not released by authorities.

About 9:23 p.m., police said 26-year-old Oscar Ramos was driving a 2001 Isuzu Rodeo west on Charleston, west of Yew Street.

A pedestrian was crossing to the south side of Charleston. The Rodeo struck the pedestrian.

The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center, where the person was pronounced dead.

Ramos and the two passengers in the Rodeo were not injured, police said.

The death was the 65th traffic fatality of the year in the jurisdiction of Las Vegas police. The incident remains under investigation.
