Pedestrian struck, killed crossing Sahara Avenue

A 32-year-old man who attempted to run across East Sahara Avenue on Monday night was struck and killed by the driver of a pickup, Las Vegas police said.
The fatal incident happened at 7:32 p.m., west of 17th Street. Driver Cesar Reyes, 49, of Las Vegas, was westbound on Sahara in a 1998 GMC Sierra when the unidentified pedestrian ran into the path of the vehicle.
The driver attempted to swerve but struck the pedestrian who died at the scene, police said.
This is the sixth traffic-related fatality in the Metropolitan Police Department's jurisdiction this year. The incident remains under investigation.
