Pedestrian struck, killed in hit-and-run incident

A pedestrian was run down and killed while crossing Maryland Parkway, just south of Stewart Avenue on Friday.

Las Vegas police said a 60-year-old woman was crossing Maryland Parkway, from west to east, about 6:36 p.m. when she was struck by the southbound vehicle. The driver fled, police said.

The woman was taken to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the vehicle that struck the woman might be a large gray or burgundy sport utility vehicle with chrome rims and large tires.
