Pedestrian struck, killed on Interstate 15

A pedestrian was struck and killed this morning on Interstate 15 northbound near the 215 Beltway north, Nevada Highway Patrol said.

The accident occurred about 7:30 a.m. near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Other circumstances of the incident are unknown, including why the person was walking in the area.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity was not released by police.

Investigators are on scene. NHP Sgt. Kevin Honea said flow of traffic is being restored.
