Pelosi calls for probe of funding of mosque opponents

In June the Supreme Court upheld a law under which people can be prosecuted for providing material support to terrorist organizations, even if the support is in the form of humanitarian aid, advice or training.
The law has an exception of medical aid but it still will not allow human rights groups to even encourage terrorist groups to be peaceful instead.
The question for the mosque near Ground Zero might then be: Are terrorist organizations such as Hamas providing support for supposed peaceful purposes?
But no one is asking that question. Instead Nancy Pelsoi is calling for an investigation of who is funding those who are protesting the location of the mosque.
Investor’s Business Daily today notes Harry Reid’s opposition and concludes:
“No matter how odious an idea or speech may be to those in power, the state doesn't have the moral standing to punish or re-educate those who express unpopular positions or annoy the authorities.
“When lawmakers respond as Pelosi did, they undermine our founding principles and inject a degree of tyranny into our system. Anyone who wasn't chilled by her statement is part of the problem.”
