Petition signature requirement ruled unconstitutional
U.S. District Judge Philip Pro today declared a state law unconstitutional that requires people who circulate petitions for the ballot to collect signatures in all 17 Nevada counties.
Petition circulators had complained that the law made it difficult for them to place petitions before voters on the ballot.
None of the petitions circulated last winter and this spring qualified for the November ballot, although judges threw them out because petition circulators failed to follow other laws.
The effect of Pro’s decision on future petitions was not immediately known.
