Photos depict vital downtown

The Capture Downtown! Downtown Las Vegas Photo Competition invited professional and amateur photographers to capture the new vitality of downtown Las Vegas, and more than 200 photographs were submitted during the two-month contest. The three entry categories were lifestyle, everyday life/work/play in downtown Las Vegas; stars, interesting people who live/work downtown; and icons, downtown landmarks, neon signs and historic buildings.

A jury of photographers and photography experts selected nine outstanding photographs as contest winners. A single "People's Choice" award was selected through online voting on the Las Vegas-Review Journal website.

The winning photographers received a variety of downtown fun packages, and their photographs are now on display in a number of bars, restaurants and businesses throughout downtown. The competition was sponsored by the city of Las Vegas, the Downtown Las Vegas Alliance, Symphony Park and the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
