Pickup crashes, rolls; man killed

A Henderson resident died Wednesday after the pickup he was driving collided with another vehicle on Decatur Boulevard and rolled.

About 3:47 p.m., the 27-year-old man was driving southbound on Decatur just north of Serene Avenue in a 2002 Ford F-150 when he made a rapid lane change to pass a southbound 2004 Audi S4, police said.

The driver of the pickup then tried to switch lanes again, between a tow truck and the Audi, police said. The maneuver forced the driver of the Audi, Shane Rensmon, 26, of North Las Vegas, into oncoming traffic. As Rensmon tried to move back into his travel lane, his Audi collided with the pickup, causing the Ford to spin out of control and roll over on the side of the road.

The driver of the pickup was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the truck, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Clark County coroner's office was waiting to identify the driver pending notification of family.

Rensmon was not injured in the crash.

The accident remained under investigation, but preliminary evidence indicated that a high rate of speed and unsafe lane changes caused the accident, according to police.
