Pilot of small plane that crashed in October has died in hospital

A pilot of a small plane that crashed last month off State Route 160 has died, a MountainView Hospital official said Tuesday.

John W. Jamison, 81, died. The official didn't know when Jamison died, and wouldn't say what caused his death.

Jamison and his wife, Catherine Irene Jamison, 69, of Las Vegas, crash-landed their Beechcraft Bonanza Oct. 8 near Blue Diamond and Castalia Street, west of the Las Vegas valley.

In late October, Jamison was in good condition at the University Medical Center and Catherine Jamison had been released from the hospital.

Aviation officials said the plane lost power and its engine died as it was approaching the North Las Vegas airport from Palm Springs, Calif. The cause of the crash is under investigation by the National Transportation Safety Board.
