Plane crash kills one in northwest Arizona

Authorities responded to a fatal plane crash in northwest Arizona Thursday afternoon.

Mohave County Sheriff Tom Sheahan confirmed that one person was dead at the scene of the fiery crash reported at 12:10 p.m.

Witnesses reported seeing the plane explode upon impact in a mountainous area some 35 miles southwest of Kingman, he said. Federal authorities were dispatched to conduct the investigation.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor said he was informed that the aircraft was destroyed by fire.
