Plumbing work at jail to force cancellation of visiting hours

THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Evening visiting hours will be suspended for two days during construction work inside the Clark County Detention Center.

Las Vegas police said a planned plumbing system upgrade will require cancellation of visiting hours from
5 to 11 p.m. today and again Aug. 18.

Police administer the nearly 3,000-bed jail in downtown.

Officials said that inmate free time and normal visitation at other hours during those days will not be affected, and that jail security and capacity will not be diminished.
