Police file warrant for dead woman’s boyfriend

Henderson police have obtained an arrest warrant for a man who was the boyfriend of a woman first reported missing and later found dead in late February. Police believe the man has fled to Mexico.

Police said Monday that they filed a warrant for Isidro Garduno, 24, who was the boyfriend of Mariela Moreno, a 20-year-old Henderson woman whose body was found Feb. 29 near Sunset Park. The warrant for Garduno recommends the charge of murder in connection with Moreno's death.

Police said Moreno's uncle last saw her about 8 p.m. Dec. 31 as she was leaving her home at 353 Washoe Way, near Pecos and Warm Springs roads. She was headed to a New Year's Eve function at a restaurant and bar on Paradise Road.

Police said Garduno told them he dropped Moreno off at her home about 4:30 a.m. Jan. 1. Police said Garduno was not arrested at the time because there was no evidence of foul play.

Garduno left the area shortly after Moreno's disappearance, and detectives believe he fled to Mexico.
