Police issue abandoned vehicle tag for Barbie Jeep

SALT LAKE CITY — In Utah, even Barbie can’t escape the long arm of the law.

An American Fork Police officer patrolling a Cedar Hills neighborhood last week came across an abandoned pink toy Jeep with the Barbie logo on the side.

Lt. Sam Liddiard says the officer moved the toy out of the road and into a driveway, and as a joke, tagged it with an abandoned-vehicle sticker.

The tag, which notifies owners to move their vehicle within 72 hours, listed the Jeep’s owner as “Barbie.”

Liddiard says the officer thought it would be a humorous way let neighbors know he was patrolling.

Liddiard says police have no plans to enforce the notice against “Barbie.”
