Police: Man shoots estranged wife, himself

A man shot and killed his estranged wife before turning the weapon on himself, Las Vegas police said.

Metropolitan Police officers went to the woman’s house in the 5600 block of Thunder Spirit Street, in southwest Las Vegas, about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, according to a news release. Family members said they were unable to get in touch with the residents and asked authorities to check on them.

Officers went in the home and found the man and woman dead from apparent gunshot wounds.

Police did not identify the couple by name or age. The Clark County Coroner’s Office could not be reached Thursday.

Detectives said the man and woman had relationship problems and were separated.
