Police officer shoots self in knee during training

A Las Vegas police officer accidentally shot himself in the knee early at the department's gun range early this morning, a spokesman said.

The officer, who suffered only minor injuries, was participating in gun training around 11:20 a.m. when the shooting occurred.

The bullet grazed the officer's knee, but he was transported to University Medical Center for treatment, police spokesman officer Jacinto Rivera said.

Police are calling the incident a "negligent discharge."
