Police seek two in slaying

Police are searching for two people who might be able to shed light on why 17-year-old Joseph Lopez of Las Vegas was found shot to death in a storm drain earlier this week.

Las Vegas police said Lopez's body was found Monday at 6:18 p.m. in the drain on Tropicana Avenue near the Beltway by a worker who was placing barricades on the street.

Michael Rodriguez, a spokesman for the Clark County School District, said Lopez was a junior at Spring Valley High School.

Police believe Lopez might have been involved in an altercation shortly before the discovery of his body. Police said Lopez might have been chased inside the storm drain.

The first person of interest is a man in his early 20s, about 6 feet, 2 inches tall with red, spiked hair. He was last seen wearing dark clothing, police said.

The second person of interest is a man in his early 20s, with a stocky build and is about 5 feet, 10 inches tall. Police said he was last seen wearing a dark-colored beret.
