Police: Vehicles used to ram officers

The detectives in an officer-involved shooting in North Las Vegas on Wednesday fired their weapons after the suspects rammed them with vehicles and attempted to hit them, authorities said.

The undercover officers were part of a narcotics investigation team assembled by the Nevada Department of Public Safety and Mesquite Police Department, according to a news release.

After the 5 p.m. shooting, which did not injure anyone, officers chased the three suspects on foot and arrested them. A firearm and a large amount of narcotics were seized, according to the release.

All three suspects have extensive criminal histories and have been charged with drug trafficking, with other charges pending, authorities said.

The names of the suspects were not released.

North Las Vegas police are investigating the incident because it happened in the department's jurisdiction, near Lamb Boulevard and Craig Road. Investigators were looking into whether the suspects fired at the officers, according to the news release.

The names of the undercover officers were not released. They have been placed on routine paid administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
