Primm ticket was proper, Brady says

Entertainer Wayne Brady has fessed up to driving too fast.

Brady, in an interview with the KMXB-FM, 94.1 morning team of Mark and Mercedes, confirmed getting the speeding ticket near Primm that we reported here Friday.

He's not challenging the ticket, he said.

"I admitted to speeding. I was doing about 80-something, and I was trying to go around this incredibly slow person in front of me. I freely admit it."

He added, "You are no one till you get a speeding ticket in Primm," he said.

Brady, who is appearing at The Venetian, told the deejays he was listening to the Ramones' "I Wanna Be Sedated," which might have contributed to his lead foot.

The lyrics to the song go:

"Just put me in a wheelchair get me to the show

Hurry hurry hurry before I gotta go

I can't control my fingers I can't control my toes."

SPEAKING OF SPEEDING ...

Trouble-prone NFL linebacker Joey Porter isn't too concerned about his latest brush with the law.

The Miami Dolphins free-agent signee told ESPN on Thursday that his misdemeanor citation from Metro for fighting with Cincinnati Bengals offensive lineman Levi Jones was "like a speeding ticket."

But he added that it was no way for a father of four to act and offered an apology to Jones, who claims Porter had his posse jump him in the Palms casino on March 18.

Miami Herald sports columnist Dan LeBatard saw it coming.

Eight days before the Porter-Jones battle, he wrote: "The newest Miami Dolphin has a history that includes being shot in the butt in a drive-by, being three hours late to his own wedding because he was arrested, an ejection for punching a player in the mouth during warmups and an incident that involves two of his mean dogs getting loose and killing a neighbor's miniature horse."
