Program offers solution for kids during summer break

Parents often find themselves in a quandary about what to do with their children during the summer break from school. While there are child care programs and various specialty camps of every cost and duration, they don't always solve the problem.

Enter the Boys & Girls Clubs of Henderson with its daylong Summer Program at locations across the valley. The cost is just a $10 or $20 annual membership fee per child at most locations. The nonprofit organization offers the Summer Program at its clubs and several partner locations in Henderson, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Southern Highlands and now Summerlin.

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Henderson Summer Program has specially designed activities by age groups: 5 to 7 years old, 8 to 9 years old, 10 to 12 years old and 13 to 18 years old. Hours at most locations are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Activities cover arts and crafts, sports, gym, computers, game room, learning center, teen lounge (ages 13-18), field trips and more.

The summer program is available at the six permanent Boys & Girls Clubs of Henderson locations and three outreach partner programs. Registration is available throughout the summer. For information or registration, visit www.bgchenderson.org or contact:

The Summer Program is included with current club membership. In addition to the annual membership fee, there are weekly fees for the Summer Program at the Southern Highlands Club and the three outreach locations. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.
