Public House: A beer drinker’s paradise
It's not unusual for high-end Strip restaurants to have a sommelier on staff - a certified wine expert who specializes in all aspects of wine service as well as wine and food matching. In fact, Las Vegas employs one of highest numbers of sommeliers worldwide.
Now a Strip restaurant is turning that same attention to detail to beer.
With a vast beer selection and generous pours, Public House is a beer drinker's paradise. Located in The Venetian, Public House has the only certified beer cicerones born in Nevada. Cicerones have proven expertise in selecting, acquiring and serving today's wide range of beers. Only those who have passed the requisite test of knowledge and tasting skill can call themselves cicerones.
Public House boasts more than 200 beer selections, including 24 beers on tap and three seasonal cask beer selections from specialty artisanal cask brewers. A climate-controlled "wine cube" stores a distinctive wine selection as well as 40-plus aged whiskeys, scotches, bourbons and beers.
Hard-to-find cask beer selections combines with a comfortable, hip atmosphere reminiscent of a Prohibition-era speakeasy to create a classic tavern interpreted through the lens of modern design. But it's the exceptional fare of Executive Chef Anthony Meidenbauer that further enhances the experience.
Meidenbauer, who also oversees the menus at the Block 16 Hospitality's other successful signature restaurants - Holsteins Shakes and Buns, Pink's Hot Dogs (Las Vegas), LBS A Burger Joint and The Barrymore, has crafted a menu of rustic American classics with a new-age spin. Some of the standouts include selections inspired by beer such as the short rib, braised with Black Butte Porter; Bouchot mussels, made with wit beer, shallots, bacon and crème fraiche; and Welsh rarebit, made with Tenaya Creek IPA.
The lounge, which accommodates up to 60 guests, is accentuated by a 40-foot-long bar anchored by a DJ booth. The restaurant is open daily for lunch and dinner from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. until midnight on Friday and Saturday. More information and reservations are available on the company's website at www.PublicHouseLV.com or by calling 407-5310.
