Raid targets leader of Hispanic group

Police raided the offices of a Hispanic citizenship organization and the home of its director on Wednesday after receiving allegations of theft and burglary.

Las Vegas police said they have received several complaints about Rene Orozco, state director for the League of United Latin American Citizens. Complainants told police that Orozco accepted money from them to assist with citizenship and criminal defense issues but failed to help them. Police said the "overwhelming majority" of complainants are undocumented immigrants or those facing other citizenship issues.

Police served warrants for nine felony counts at the group's office at 765 N. Nellis Blvd. and at Orozco's home.

Detectives are asking for other potential victims to come forward by contacting their local police substation. Police said they are concerned about the crime victims, not the immigration status of those crime victims.
