Freshman guard DeShawn Mitchell sparked a second-half rally to help UNLV pull away to a 73-48 victory over Texas-Pan American tonight at the Thomas & Mack Center.

Mitchell, who did not play in Saturday’s season opener, scored 12 of his team-high 14 points in the second half. The Rebels led 27-24 at halftime.

Rene Rougeau scored 12 points for UNLV (2-0) in the first round of the Global Sports Classic.
