Regents focus on upcoming two-year budget

The university system Board of Regents today praised state legislators and Gov. Jim Gibbons for making budget adjustments in Monday's special session, saying it saved them from making further cutbacks for the current year that they were scheduled to make.

The regents, meeting in Las Vegas, then started working on their two-year budget which will start July 1, when severe budget cuts will have to be made because of sharp declines in state tax revenues.
