Reno Council wants Postal operations to stay

RENO -- The Reno City Council has approved a resolution urging the U.S. Postal Service not to close its Reno processing and distribution center that employs 177 workers.

The resolution adopted Wednesday says closing or reducing operations would affect the entire region, add a 4.5 cent cost for bulk distribution, and negatively affect local businesses and rural communities throughout northern Nevada.

Last month the Postal Service announced it is considering closing and or reducing the processing ability of the Reno facility on Vassar Street and moving the operation to Sacramento.
