Reno man’s body found in St. Maarten

PHILIPSBURG, St. Maarten -- Police in St. Maarten say they have found the body of an American man who died under mysterious circumstances in the Dutch Caribbean territory.

A police spokesman said authorities found the body of 32-year-old Kevin Duggan Woods of Reno in bushes before dawn Monday.

Police had gone to the area because neighbors reported hearing someone call for help.

Spokesman Ricardo Henson said there was a heavy downpour at the time and officers could not find anyone in the steep terrain.

Later, they called out firefighters, who cut a path through the bushes and found the man's body.

Henson said the man had cuts and bruises.

However, the cause of death is unknown and the investigation is continuing, Henson said.
