DO YOU ENJOY TARGET PRACTICE? HOW ABOUT READING IN THE RESTROOM?

If so, the Southern Nevada Water Authority has just the promotion for you.

In select public restrooms around the valley, you can now find the authority's conservation message posted in a place that's hard to miss.

The new gimmick should come as quite a relief to local residents peeved about wasteful neighbors and rising water bills.

But sorry, ladies; obviously this message is aimed at the demographic deemed most likely to control the sprinkler timers at home: men.

LAS VEGAS MAYOR OSCAR GOODMAN WAS ALL PRAISE AND SMILES WEDNESDAY when the Las Vegas City Council approved a permit for a new Sportsman's Warehouse on Centennial Boulevard, but he did have one complaint that stemmed from a grand opening event he attended.

"They had about 50,000 trout fishing flies," Goodman said. "I asked them if they had a pink one. They said no."

"The people make up the educational field here. They really do," Yealy said. "Without the people, the kids would have no human touch -- and I don't mean physical."
