Republican Kirschner withdraws from Assembly Distict 4 race

CARSON CITY -- Republican Jerimy Kirschner withdrew Monday as a candidate from the Assembly District 4 race in Clark County, leaving Michele Fiore as the only GOP candidate in the race.

Candidates have until 5 p.m. today to drop out of races and prevent their names from appearing on the June 12 primary ballot.

"Michele is a strong candidate and will be better for the party going forward," Kirschner said.

Besides Fiore, the ballot for District 4 includes Democrat Kenneth Evans and Independent American Jonathan Hansen.

Republicans have a 300-registered-voter advantage over Democrats in the district, according to the latest figures from the secretary of state's office.

Fiore said Kirschner's withdrawal will let her focus on the general election and she intends to begin knocking of doors of registered Democrats.

District 4 is in the northwest Las Vegas area off U.S. Highway 95 generally north of Lone Mountain Road.
